Peace education, Education inspiring Peace and Positive Conflict Transformation

The EIP Lab, in collaboration with the Universities Network for Peace (RUNIPACE) and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE), organised the international seminar “Peace Education, Education Inspiring Peace and Positive Conflict Transformation“.

The event took place on Monday May 24th 2021, from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.

The seminar “Educating for Peace, Educating Inspiring Peace and Positive Conflict Transformation” stimulated a debate on how educational systems, at various levels, could develop competences like social responsibility, solidarity, peace, the valorisation of difference and democratic civic participation. The initiative also wanted to lay the foundations for a collaboration aimed at establishing synergies between the school and university dimensions, in particular focusing of the training activities for teachers, trainers and educators in general.

The event, mainly in Italian, was fully held online through the Zoom platform.

Participants

The seminar was addressed to school teachers and educators in informal settings, university-level teacher education officers, school leaders, parents and students associations, members of the Italian Schools for Peace Network, SicuraScuola Network, university students, researchers, and policy makers at the local, regional, and national levels.

Outcomes

1

To inform educators about the availability of resources and skills to support them in their civic education courses and more generally in the development of social-relational skills.

2

To widen and consolidate the community of university students, teachers and experts interested in the topics of peace education and citizenship, thus fostering collaboration with the Network of Universities for Peace RUNIPACE and with the EIP Lab.

3

Identify new initiatives and projects that can structure the collaboration among those involved in the event.
